Men go to hell because they are sinners, and then stay in hell eternally because they are still sinners, aliens, rebels, unreconciled and condemned sinners.
If you reject Christ and land in hell, ‘then’ and not till “then” will you really understand how terrible sin is.
Sin will come home to the sinner in the fires of hell.
