Most people overlook the fact that in their attempt to keep thoughts of God and their own guilt out of their minds they are not only suppressing their fear of the Judge; they are simultaneously suppressing any hope of salvation. For the same omniscient God, who, in their opinion, does not exist, wishes everyone to put things in order with him. How? By sincerely confessing what has gone wrong in his life. Whoever lays his sins bare before God will be forgiven on the ground of the toning sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
